Graduate Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Officer

Strategic Infrastructure is a part of National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) and is responsible for delivering 17 major new projects to connect more clean, low-carbon power to the transmission network in England and Wales. These projects, delivered under the regulator's Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework, play a vital part in achieving the UK Government's ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030., As a Graduate Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) Officer you'll be working with the SHESQ team and the delivery team on the planning of major projects and supporting with the mobilisation of early contractor works. You will attend project meetings and progress meetings with contractors, designers, and supply chain. You will support assurance of contractor systems and contribute to a portfolio of large construction schemes whilst gaining an understanding of offshore High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects. You'll understand the physical and practical challenges of delivering projects safely to time and cost and how to develop Safe Systems of Work, adhering to corporate and legislative requirements. You'll also work to coordinate Hazard Identification (HAZID) reviews and Hazard Identification Risk Assessments (HIRAs) for offshore work., As you'll be joining our 18-month graduate programme, you'll have a tailored development pathway to support you as you develop a wide range of leadership, business, and technical skills. You'll attend in-person and virtual development sessions throughout your programme to equip you with the essential skills required, as you begin your career at National Grid. You'll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 in any degree discipline. It doesn't matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification. We just need you to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting. Due to the amount of travel to our site locations, you'll need to have a full valid UK driving license that allows you to drive in the UK.You'll need flexibility to travel within role and throughout your rotations as required.
