Job Title - Graduate Software Engineer Job Location - Bristol, UK Job ID - 18162 About this opportunity and L3Harris UK From 11 UK sites, our team of nearly 1,000 people delivers unique capabilities across space, air, land, sea and cyber for military, security and commercial customers across the UK and worldwide. L3Harris in Bristol/Burgess Hill/Barrow provides warship automation systems through control and simulation solutions that are in service on Albion Class Landing Platform Docks and Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers. More systems are being developed and delivered for Type 26 and Type 31 Frigates. We are seeking an enthusiastic degree qualified engineer (or equivalent) to join a growing software engineering team. The successful applicant will receive exposure and experience working on large scale projects with opportunities to advance their career in the field of software engineering. Please note applications for this role will close on Monday 13^th January. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre on Thursday 6^th February. - Professional registration with the IET (Engineers only) What the role will involve The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Help develop, support and document the infrastructure that PMS relies on.
- Work on all aspects of PMS automation for electrical, propulsion, ancillary (fluid) and auxiliary systems on naval and commercial platforms
- Develop graphical interfaces, control sequences and configurable software components
- Participate in the full software lifecycle for control systems software
- Use both standard tools and proprietary software packages under the direction of senior software engineers
- Produce and maintain software documentation ensuring full traceability of the software throughout the lifecycle
- Participate in the full software lifecycle for control systems software adhering to company process and procedure
- Participate in reviews of software code, documentation and contractual internal/external design reviews. What you'll bring The role requires the following experience and skills:
- A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering (or similar) with a grade of at least a 2:1 or an equivalent qualification and experience (e.g., Apprenticeship)
- Proficient IT skills in all standard Microsoft Office applications and some demonstrable experience of Software development (C, C++ or Python)
- Good communication skills to work as part of a dynamic development team
- Effective problem-solving skills Important to know Due to the nature of our work many our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
