A large component of the estate grounds including the wood, grass, grazing meadows and park land are opened for both the campus and the wider community to walk through and use.RoleAn exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join the Babraham Research Campus Estate Management team and work fluidly to assist the three divisions.

  • The Estates team is responsible for maintaining and managing the grounds on site in accordance with grounds maintenance needs, service

  • provision and support, as well as handling recycling and disposal of campus waste.
  • The post will also involve assisting the campus Porters team in their duties of clinical waste processing, site logistics and meeting room set ups. The Gardening team maintain the formal areas and landscaping around the main campus site, and the role will involve assisting in this delivery.The post holder will be a member of a small team who will work with you closely as you develop confidence and ability in these important areas of work.Responsibility Assist in running the daily processing of Campus waste, including recycling, composting, lab clinical waste, electrical, paper shredding and general waste. Assisting the Gardening team with formal area maintenance, weeding, spraying & associated tasks. Assisting the campus Porters team Assist in the record keeping of clinical waste streams on site. Maintenance of campus grounds, amenity grassland and parkland areas. Maintenance of Estate wood

  • and managed grassland, from mature woodland through to newly planted trees and hay & meadow pasture.
  • Involvement in conservation projects within the Estate grounds. Operating and maintaining various pieces of Machinery (such as Tractors, ride-on mowers etc.). Maintenance of Estate Public and Permissive footpaths (to include mowing and fencing). Wintertime clearing of Campus grounds to include snow clearing and gritting on campus paths, roads and car parks. To carry out any other reasonable management request.As a member of the Estate, Porters and Gardens team, it is essential the post-holder has a flexible approach to work as they will be required to assist in all areas of the Estate department by arrangement with the line managers.Full training will be given for all elements of the duties and responsibilities described.Person SpecificationEducation and Qualifications Full valid driving licence 4 GSCEs grade D and above (including Maths and English)

  • Working within a team environment Holding grounds maintenance experience, or similar practical discipline. Experience of working in service provision for a large site. Waste/recycling/clinical waste experience Use of powered hand tools, ride on and large agricultural machinerySkills and Abilities Strong background in grounds maintenance Ability to work efficiently as part of a team or when necessary, alone with some level of independence Able to prioritise tasks effectively Able to work on own initiative Positive, flexible and enthusiastic in approach to change Good interpersonal and communication skills Company Benefits Pension Allowance - Babraham Research Campus Ltd. offers a Group Personal Pension Scheme and currently contributes 10.5% of salary subject to a staff contribution of 3%.
