Full Job Description

Grounds Person 37.5 hours per week / 52 weeks per year Due to a recent promotion, Worth School are recruiting a Grounds Person to join the school soonest, to complete work on the grounds as directed by the Deputy Head Groundsman. This covers the whole of the school site, concentrating mainly on the sports pitches. As Grounds Person, your responsibilities would include:

  • Preparing and maintaining a variety of sports pitches and surfaces to a high standard
  • Preparation and upkeep of lawns and decorative area - mowing, strimming, pruning and weeding
  • Removal of litter, leaves and rubbish in certain defined areas
  • Work with and maintain various types of machinery and equipment
  • What we are looking for:
  • NVQ level 2 sports turf or equivalent qualifications (Essential)
  • Experience working as a Grounds Person in any setting is essential, including experience of regularly performing the key duties listed (Essential)
  • A full UK driving licence is a requirement of the role. (Essential)
  • A PA1/PA6 spraying certificate would be desirable.
  • This is a physical role so you must be reasonably fit to cope with the demands of the role, which include lifting, carrying and working outdoors in all weather conditions. A flexible approach is needed to working hours. As well as some requirement to work early mornings and evenings, team members may be required to work paid overtime on Saturdays during the Summer term to prepare wickets prior to school cricket matches. A full UK driving licence is a requirement of the role.
