Full Job Description

  • In line with the University Strategy and Values and Behaviours, direct a team of Grounds staff, to deliver an efficient, effective and proactive service across the University.
  • Provide management, support, and development of all staff within the team.
  • Ensure adherence to high standards and professional behavior.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and landscaping of outdoor areas and facilities at both City and Coach Lane campus
  • Support the University biodiversity action plan and net gain requirements as set by the planning authority.
  • Foster a strong sense of customer service, both internal and external, across the team.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of working on sports grounds facilities

    To be successful in the role you will have:
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the delivery of grounds and horticultural services,
  • Exceptional customer service skills, able to deal with customers courteously and efficiently, whilst managing expectations.
  • Good understanding of the needs of a variety of plants including trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Knowledge of soil types and soil management strategies.
  • Act professionally and respect colleagues and partners at all times.
  • Able to provide and supervise an efficient and effective grounds and horticultural service.
  • Able to use grounds equipment and vehicles, follow risk assessments and method statements.
  • Able to work outdoors n a variety of weather conditions, including occasional dusty, dirty environments.
  • Able to occasionally lift/carry heavy loads.
  • Competent in using computer systems such as Excel, Word and emails.
