Full Job Description

The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) is the world's largest membership organisation dedicated to structural engineering.

We uphold standards, share knowledge, promote structural engineering and provide a voice for the profession. Professional membership of the Institution is a global benchmark of competence and technical excellence, driving safety and innovation in the built environment.

We create, develop and support communities of technical excellence. Our committees and panels and our Regional Group activity provide global connectivity for members and facilitate the sharing of knowledge. Our events, publications and training address structural engineers' need for both a firm grasp of fundamentals and the profession's increasing specialisation.

The City of London is a centre of excellence in tall, complex, multi-tenanted buildings, but deals with an interesting mix of heritage and cultural projects also. We have a busy workload and we are looking for someone to join our team of existing, experienced Class 2 & 3 Registered Building Inspectors.

Working with eminent designers and contractors, our projects portfolio includes some of the UK's largest buildings, predominantly multi-million-pound office and retail developments, hotels and residential apartment blocks, incorporating leading edge innovative design solutions.

We are looking for a highly skilled, Class 3 Registered Building Inspector, who is dynamic and competent. You must be committed to delivering a world class Building Control service in a highly competitive market. You will play an important role in ensuring the viability and standing of the City District Surveyor's Office now and into the future.

Professionally qualified, you will have extensive professional and technical skills necessary to work within a competitive Building Control environment. Full support will be given to ensure you maintain your competence. If you are not yet registered as a Class 3 RBI but have already gained Class 2 registration, and you can demonstrate the right skills and experience, support could be offered to the right person continue their progress to Class 3.
