North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, have formally agreed to form a group to enable closer working across the two organisations. The group model means that the two organisations remain separate so they can represent their communities really effectively, but it has the flexibility to enable the trusts to work at scale to take strategic decisions which benefit the group as a whole and the patients we serve. The Group Director of Midwifery will lead and advocate the delivery of high standards of maternity and women's care across integrated care pathways and services, overseeing operational delivery. The Group Director of Midwifery will lead and advocate for safe, high quality maternity care, leading the strategic and operational delivery of local services. Professional midwifery leadership is a key and fundamental function of the Group Director of Midwifery role, professionally accountable to the Group Chief Nurse, with a focus on the strategic delivery of high standards of midwifery and women services across the Trust.,
- To contribute to the financial management and maximise value for money, effectiveness and productivity. Ensure all resources are deployed to achieve best outcome and that all schemes are assessed for their impact on quality.
- Ensure business cases are robust, identifying both the operational and financial implications of options including the management of risk and impact on other stakeholders both internal and external to the Group.
- To ensure there is a robust communication framework that engages staff at all levels, promoting involvement in decision making and the delivery of corporate objectives.
- Participate in the on-call rota and be responsible for ensuring all service level agreements and key performance targets, including waiting times and waiting lists.
- To develop, facilitate, co-ordinate and evaluate a programme of maternity education and training across the Group.
- Lead on and contribute to the development of midwifery profession through proactive involvement in local, regional and national forums, represent the Trust on midwifery and maternity issues.
- Interpret overall health services policy and strategy in order to establish goals and standards. Contribute as required in coordinating the Trust's response to national directives, ensuring local application.
- Provide professional and operational advice and guidance at a senior level and expert advice to the Board and the Group Chief Nurse.
