Full Job Description

You will be responsible for strengthening trust and relationships with the Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller community members across Kent and working with them to take action which improves individual, community and population health and wellbeing. You will be working closely with key stakeholders to strengthen cultural sensitivity and the suitability of health services which people from the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community can find difficult to access.

You will need to be a creative thinker, who has experience of working with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities to design health and wellbeing programmes which work.

The core duties will be to improve understanding of the health and wellbeing of Gypsy, Roma and Travellers across Kent (including those living in registered and unregistered sites and in settled accommodation). With the communities, you will design and implement an action plan, in line recommendations from the Kent Gypsy, Roma and Traveller health needs assessment conducted in 2023.

These will include areas of mental health, health checks, uptake of immunisation and others.

You will be supported, and line managed by a Public Health Specialist and be part of a friendly, dynamic and supportive team which promotes professional development and will recognise your achievements. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
