Full Job Description
The post holder will provide non-clinical / admin support to the multi-professional team under the direction of an appropriate registered health care professional. Support the nursing team with admin tasks such as:
- Typing up patient letters.
- Arranging meetings.
- Support with auditing as required.
- Dealing with incoming and outgoing post.
- Answering patient calls / enquiries.
- Filing.
- Other general administrative duties.
The post holder will support good working relationships with the child haematology service to ensure the admin is seamless for transition for the child / young person as they reach adulthood.
The post holder will be required to work as part of the administration team and may be required to provide cross cover during periods of staff absence within their existing team and paediatric haemoglobinopathy team.
You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. The Northampton Specialist haemoglobinopathy team currently incorporates Northampton and Kettering, flexibility is required across the two main hospital sites., · Undertake specified directed duties as delegated by the Registered Nurse / health care professional.
· Carry out specified delegated nonclinical care and support consistent with the patients'/ users' plan of care.
· Maintain effective communication with the Registered Nurse / health care professional regarding issues relating to assigned duties, promptly reporting areas of concern.
· Assist and support care delivery by only undertaking delegated work that is within own level skill and competence.
· Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the care delivered by the health care team and which benefits the patient / user experience.
MANAGEMENT AND USE OF INFORMATION, RESOURCES, CLERICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE ACTIVITIES
· Use health-related information only for the purposes for which it is intended and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
· Ensure confidentiality is always maintained and information relating to patients / users and staff is used only in connection with authorised duties.
· Carry out designated clerical duties as delegated by the Haemoglobinopathy team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Operational
1. Signposting of queries as appropriate to the clinical, information or administrative teams.
2. Using excellent communication skills, and appropriate tools and procedures, liaising as appropriate with the CNS and team.
3. To ensure all relevant patient appointments for nurse led services are notified in a timely manner providing an excellent patient experience providing required information.
4. Support and contribute to audit processes, governance, research, clinical research trials and service development.
5. Support the planning/inviting / organising of informative events for patients.
6. Plans own workload daily and sets priorities for workload management.
7. Able to complete tasks in a timely manner and according to relevant protocols for service.
Coordination of education and provision of advice
1. To be able to advise and sign post patients to the relevant team / person.
General Responsibilities
1. Be responsible for own personal educational, keeping up to date with changes to practice, to ensure highest possible standards of work.
2. Review own work and identify with the relevant people the activities to be undertaken to support learning and development.
3. Understand that there will be some distressing situations and when to seek appropriate support/advice.
4. Demonstrate an awareness of the limits of own practice and knowledge and when to seek appropriate support/advice.
5. Feedback patient and carer concerns / unmet needs to CNS as appropriate.
Information Management
1. Records information on database and prepares reports when requested.
