Full Job Description

  • To support and deputise for the Senior and Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and safe delivery of Cytotoxic medication, IV medication and blood products.
  • To be able to safely coordinate the ward/department and ensure that there are education and training opportunities for all staff.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 nurse to join the team on the Haematology Day Unit.
  • The candidate will need excellent venepuncture and cannulation skills and have a keen interest in haematology.
  • We have close links to The Royal Marsden, King's College and Kingston universities which provide courses and degree modules specific to haematology.
  • The successful applicant will join a highly skilled, specialist team that offer treatments including chemotherapy, blood product transfusions and venesections to patients with both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions.
  • The post holder will be expected to provide and maintain high standards of care to our patients, be able to work autonomously as well as part of a cohesive team, have excellent communication skills and work within the multidisciplinary team.
  • You will need to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to this highly specialist group of patients.
  • The successful applicant must be able to organise and prioritise their own work load, to work within an environment that requires flexibility and the need to work under pressure.
