Full Job Description
The post holders will work with the HCC team across Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital, liaise with the specialist haemoglobinopathy teams based at Lewisham university Hospital and Croydon University Hospital as well as the local haemoglobinopathy centres across the SELSE HCC regional network.
Changes to the organisation of tertiary services for individuals with haemoglobinopathy and rare congenital anaemias have led to the development of regional haemoglobinopathy coordinating centres (HCC). HCCs are commissioned by NHS England to support specialist haemoglobinopathy teams (SHTs) to deliver, and coordinate the care children and adults with haemoglobinopathy and rare congenital anaemias, receive across a region. SELSE HCC is also part of King's Health Partners, which brings together one of the top research-led universities, King's College London, and three of London's most prestigious and highly regarded NHS Foundation Trusts - Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College Hospital and South London and the Maudsley. KHP Haematology is one of the five Clinical Academic Partnerships within KHP.
This post is aimed at senior specialist trainees with principal aim to gain experience in NHS service, network development and management prior to completing training, gain valuable skills as well as further developing their teaching and writing skills, also gain experience in the management of individuals with haemoglobinopathy ., Participate and integrate SELSE HCC activities, taking direction from the clinical leads, their clinical supervisors and other colleagues as appropriate.
Coordinate multiple aspects of work to local and network audits, as per agreed and established timelines with the network audit lead and local haemoglobinopathy service leads.
Support the network lead in preparation of the annual report.
Participate in local outpatient clinics to release consultants for outreach clinical duties and other HCC network related work.
Together with network management team, liaise with Local Haemoglobinopathy Teams to ensure completion of network audits and implementation of network guidelines.
Work collaboratively with network management team and colleagues across SELSE HCC and colleagues in partner institutions, in accordance with HCC's requirements.
And other responsibilities itemised on the Job document ., The Haematology, Cellular Pathology & Supporting Services Directorate is an integral part of the Cancer and Surgery Clinical Group. The Cancer and Surgery Clinical Group will bring together a number of Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust's services that work collaboratively across the hospital and with our partners to provide excellence in clinical care, research and academia. It will operate as a distinct entity with devolved accountability within the Trust. The aim of this Clinical Group is to deliver the GSTT Cancer and Surgery Strategy., + Participate and integrate SELSE HCC activities, taking direction from the clinical leads, their clinical supervisors and other colleagues as appropriate.

· Participate in clinical governance activity to ensure network guidelines are kept updated by working with the network guideline writing groups, both adult and paediatric.
· Ensure network guidelines are implemented locally and across network SHT and LHTs.
· Ensure guidelines on network website are kept up to date.
· Ensure network and local audits are completed.
· Maintain flexibility in the working week to participate in outpatient clinics as discussed with local supervisor based on clinical need and outreach clinic burden.
· To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
· To participate in local and network wide teaching and training.
· Attend the SELSE HCC business and strategy meetings, and be an active participant. Support management team including the Chair and deputy in preparation for these meetings.
· Attend SELSE monthly MDT meetings.
