Full Job Description
The post involves the provision of assessment and management of care for patients with Haemophilia and related inherited bleeding disorders and their families, in the in-patient, out-patient and community setting. The Post holder will be expected to lead on paediatric areas of care. While the post holder will be paediatric trained, the role will include working with both adult and paediatric patients. Working alongside the consultants, specialist registrar, Haemophilia lead nurse, clinical nurse specialists and physiotherapist, the post holder will treat patients within day care settings and may manage a community based caseload. They will play an important role within the multidisciplinary team in educating and supporting families. They will also act as a source of specialised advice and information for hospital based staff. The post holder will be encouraged to develop their own areas of interest to take forward to benefit the service, and will lead by example
as the expert practitioner providing organisation and leadership to the multi professional team.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual, looking for a fantastic opportunity to work within one of London's leading Haemophilia centres. The post would develop and expand nursing and managerial skills, whilst gaining a wealth of experience in the management of bleeding disorders.
Working alongside the adult-trained band 7 CNS in post, as well as the full haemophilia multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will need to be a paediatric trained nurse, have substantial post registration experience at band 6 level and have a reasonable understanding of inherited bleeding conditions. The role will demand an ability to provide a safe level of care and treatment management for patients of all ages. Whilst working within the MDT structure of the centre; it is expected that the successful candidate is able to manage their own workload according to the daily demands of the Haemophilia centre. Where necessary they will be able to deputise for the Haemophilia Lead Nurse and participate in the management and support of junior members of staff within the haemophilia nursing team. The post holder will also need to provide appropriate teaching and support to ward staff and patients and their families all in line with The Trust WeCare values.
