Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join a developing Hand Therapy Team. The post will offer the opportunity to work in the Outpatient department at BRI assessing and treating patients predominantly with hand pathologies. This includes acute and chronic conditions, post-operative, post trauma, joint and soft tissue injuries. Patients are referred from consultants, GPs and staff self referrals. This role involves working closely with the Orthopaedic and Plastics Hand Consultants and ESP in Hands and being involved in Consultant clinics. The successful candidate will manage a team of Band 6, 5 and assistant staff. The successful candidate will be supported by a team of other Band 7s and ESP staff/Therapy Coordinator. We have a comprehensive IST Programme and dedicated time for personal development., To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients and use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to providean accurate diagnosis of their hand condition.Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a specialist knowledge of evidence based practice andtreatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skillsTo take lead responsibility for the day to day management of patient workloads, and the delivery of specialist physiotherapy assessment andtreatment plans for designated groups of patients.To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with HCPC & CSP standards of practice.Represent physiotherapy service and/or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings.To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through specialist CPD activities.Be responsible for the day to day management of specialist physiotherapy practitioner grades and below on a daily basis.Maintain and develop current knowledge of evidenced-based practice in the area of Hand Therapy management.

Please note applicants must have good experience of managing Hand conditions both in the pre and post-surgical stage. Experience of splinting would be an advantage
