At Amey, we're supporting our justice client, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

General Operative plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

You will be responsible for:

Collaborating with a dynamic team to perform general maintenance tasks and assist tradespeople on site.
Taking on various FM duties as directed by the team manager.
Contributing to local and business zero carbon initiatives, strategically working towards sustainability goals.
Maintaining high health and safety standards across the contract.

What makes this role unique is you will support colleagues and contractors in all maintenance across the site as well as working independently. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).

Solid experience in DIY/ general building maintenance.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Ability to work well in a team and follow and adhere to instructions.

It would be desirable if you have time management skills and experience working within a large site area, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed., Disability Confident
