Full Job Description

The post holder will be a highly visible senior midwife and as such expected to provide specialist knowledge, advice and clinical expertise.

As Matron you will be a highly visible member of the service's team, supported by the Heads and Director of Midwifery. The Matron is an influential role and recognised as being a key component to the delivery of the Maternity strategy. The Matron will work closely within a team of matrons. The matron should be someone who treats all colleagues with equal respect, and is inclusive and democratic. The Matron role also requires the skills and experience to manage staff ensuring the continuous delivery of efficient and effective services.

Working collaboratively with other Matrons the post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of both Trust and Divisional objectives and assisting in the delivery of the governance agenda.

To be responsible for setting and monitoring clinical standards and to play a proactive role in quality improvement, whilst demonstrating an awareness of the impact of each clinical area's activity, interacting with other areas to provide a seamless service., Maternity Services at King's has a strong reputation for women-centred care. Key strengths in the service are involving women in decisions about their care and supporting informed choice throughout pregnancy and in the postnatal period, overseeing and implementing a range of models of midwifery care which enable high quality care provision to women and families from vulnerable groups and the provision of a seamless service between the hospital and community.

As a member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for advancing change in four main areas of impact - quality, patient experience, finance and efficiency, and leadership and skills development.
