Full Job Description

We are now looking to hire a part-time Hats and Jewellery Senior Technician, to work within the team on all activities required for the making and altering for new, revived, co-productions and hired productions to the highest standards.

This role will suit a candidate with strong communication skills who is also able to demonstrate:

A Hat Making course qualification to degree level, or comparable qualification/degree in a relevant craft skill area. Excellent sewing skills, hat making including covered shapes, blocking, pattern cutting, cut and sew hats, wire work and costume jewellery are essential; a good knowledge of silversmithing, the repertoire of the RBO, maintenance for hats & jewellery, and a history of period costume are an advantage. Proven practical making skills and some experience of fitting hats within a costume fitting situation. The ability to accurately interpret design concepts from drawings, sketches & verbal instruction. A proven track record in craft skills with a major production theatre or venue or comparable film/TV experience. Team player with a collaborative approach to working, the ability to work unsupervised and a willingness to learn new skills and help train others.
