Full Job Description
The Head Housekeeper plays a key role in the business by managing the Uniform Room operations and the team within this, along with overseeing impeccable cleanliness and standards across all front of house areas of the Club. The Uniform Team are often the first people our team members see as they start their shift and are the welcoming face who looks after their uniforms. You are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Uniform Room and making sure your colleagues are always looking in tip top shape and ready to provide exceptional service to our members. In addition, the Head Housekeeper will manage and organise the front of house cleaning team, working with the Back of House Manager to ensure resources are covered efficiently and duties carried out daily. The role reports to the Front of House Manager and will help in making sure that all departments are equipped to maintain the highest level of cleanliness across all front of house areas. Your main responsibilities will include: Operations & Service
- Responsible for all operations within the uniform room and associated uniform and linen processes including the stock, storage, staff management, effective software system (LinenTrack) usage and maintenance of the Uniform Room and all uniforms items.
- Collaborate with other departments across our business to understand their uniform needs and requirements, staffing patterns and levels of business.
- Via the current third party agency uphold the physical appearance and ambiance of front of house areas, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing.
- Manage contractors/subcontractors such as external window cleaners, upholsterers, floor polishers etc.
- Conduct quality inspections of the Club spaces and back of house areas to ensure they meet the desired cleanliness and presentation standards and that the experience of members surpass expectations.
- Create and manage the weekly staff rotas ensuring staffing levels cover business demands and holidays (organise holiday temporary cover as and when needed).
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements whilst maintaining service quality standards. Use clear and constructive communication to build strong relationships with colleagues, especially with senior F&B managers.
- Work with F&B Management and People team to ensure that uniforms are ready for new team members in time.
- Provide exceptional service to your fellow team members in line with The Roof Gardens service standards.
- Inventory
- Develop and maintain robust inventory management systems, ensuring consistent and adequate stock availability while minimising excess inventory. Reconcile inventory records and identify discrepancies and variances. Any discrepancy must be highlighted immediately to the FOH Manager/Stock Controller.
- Keep secure records of team members uniform sizing and other relevant uniform related information.
- Implement a system to handle team members that leave ensuring any missing items are communicated with People team and managers.
- Complete a monthly stocktake/inventory of the uniform room working with Stock Control team where needed.
- Quality, Fittings & Maintenance
- Develop procedures for the fitting, maintenance and repair of uniforms coordinating internal seamstress and repair resources to handle fittings, repairs and alterations to ensure timely issue/replacements.
- Inspect uniform and stock for quality control and conduct regular assessments to evaluate the adequacy and relevance of existing uniform designs and materials.
- Make sure linen and laundry company processes are monitored and maintained to the desired quality and efficiencies, and that costs are in line with budgets.
- Responsible for the linen laundry process ensuring linen items distributed to the correct departments.
- Meet with the laundry company on a monthly basis regarding team members' laundry and dry-cleaning items.
- Ensure all team uniforms (and stock) are labelled appropriately before being issued to team members.
- Instruct team to carry out standard repairs and alterations to uniforms People
- Lead, encourage, inspire and support team members to perform their roles to the best of their abilities at all times, in line with objectives and service standards (ensuring to provide feedback where appropriate).
- Foster a culture of training and development throughout the team, nurturing talent through coaching, feedback and regular 1-2-1 meetings.
- Ensure effective team working by supporting team members to communicate and engage with colleagues in a helpful and constructive manner
- Ensure all staff are fully conversant with Health and Safety policies and procedures and attended relevant training
- Ensure a working understanding of company employment policies and procedures within the team, to ensure best practice within the work environment. Compliance
- Ensure that the Uniform room is kept secure, and you take pride in your work area and overall Club environment.
- Ensure cleanliness standards are met, and all Food Safety measures are adhered to
- Ensure equipment and fixtures are maintained well and report any faults and damage.
- Ensure team members adhere to H&S policy and any other Company policy and procedure.
Prior managerial experience in a similar role in a luxury hospitality/hotel environment is preferred - Demonstrable experience of stock management, with the ability to take charge, identify and introduce solutions to resolve issues related to stock and inventory
- Broad knowledge of garment fitting and standard garment repairs and alterations
- Strong people manager who can motivate and inspire a team, and 'muck-in' where needed
- Adaptable with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process/systems improvements.
- An excellent communicator with an excellent level of English (spoken and written)
- Highly organised and methodical. Good at managing deadlines and working in a fast-paced environment
- An eye for detail, with the ability to look ahead and pre-empt issues or challenges
- You will possess a friendly, characterful demeanour and take genuine pleasure in supporting your colleagues
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
