Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Kitchen Porter to join our vibrant catering team. You will lead a team of 3 kitchen porters and provide the backbone to the craft team who can only excel with your support and dedication.

You will play a vital role in shaping the back of house support for our hospitality, breakfast, lunch, and supper for our students, staff & visitors and ensuring that our dining services continue to be a pillar of our school community. You will support our chefs in the daily preparation and service of food, maintain hygiene standards, and contribute to a positive dining experience.

What you'll do:

  • Work to Food, Health & Safety standards at all time

  • To check kitchen for cleanliness, safety

  • Basic food preparation if required.

  • Washing up, cleaning and clearing all kitchen areas

  • Unloading and putting away deliveries

  • Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors, including loading bay and outside bin area

    Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standard. Good oral communication

  • Attention to detail.

  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes.

  • Positive and approachable manner

  • Team player qualities

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food safety standards.


  • What you bring:
  • Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role, preferably in a school or large-scale food service environment.

  • A passion for food and food service, coupled with a desire to contribute to a positive dining experience for students and staff.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • An understanding of health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.

  • Flexibility and a willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends.
