Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered General Nurse to join our Head and Neck CNS team working in collaboration with Walsall Manor Hospital to further develop the Head and Neck Cancer service we provide.

As a specialist key worker you will be working with the multi- disciplinary team to provide and assist in the development of a comprehensive nursing service for those patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer over the 2 hospital sites. As a point of contact for your patients you will be actively involved at all stages of the patients cancer journey from diagnosis , active treatment and post treatment living well and beyond treatment., Be key worker for the duration of the head and neck cancer patients journey from diagnosis to post treatment and living well and beyond .

Assess patients and plan, implement and evaluate care using specialist clinical knowledge and skills.

Review patients and provide care within in patient out patients setting and offer community support and advice.

Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings offering evidence to patient management

Provide education and support to patients, cares and colleagues in tracheostomy and valve care.

Participate in audit , research and service development within the Head and Neck Service

Refer patients to members of the Multi professional team and community for ongoing support and advise as required.

Promotion of public health and well being .

Be accountable for ensuring safe and effective practice

You will have the relevant nursing experience and excellent communication skills in order to convey highly complex sensitive information to patients and carers ; coordinating the pathway and interacting productively on their behalf, at multi disciplinary team level.

You will be expected to make autonomous decisions, utilizing your specialist knowledge , analyzing problems, providing solutions seeking guidance where necessary from the MDT and working within your professional code of conduct and the policies set within the Trust.
