Full Job Description

St John's College is a leading independent school for girls and boys aged 3 to 18. With 506 pupils on its roll, St John's is the Choir School to Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral and seeks to appoint a dynamic and innovative Head of Biology from January 2025. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to inspire and develop pupils and will have demonstrable experience in delivering strong results, particularly at KS5.

At GCSE, the majority of our pupils study the separate science pathway and KS5 uptake in Science is the highest in the School. The Science Faculty, which is noted for its academic success, currently comprises 11 teaching staff, and 3 technicians, covering all three disciplines. It is the aim of the team to get pupils to reach the highest possible standard that they can achieve, ensuring that they are well prepared for both internal and external examinations, higher education and the world of work.
