Full Job Description

At +Impact, a specialised advisory business within the Serco Group, we are committed to impacting a better future. We deliver purpose-driven consulting services focused on the public sector and regulated industries, leveraging the agility and innovation of a start-up with the backing of a global organisation. As Head of Business Development, you'll play a vital role in growing our business and helping us achieve our mission of addressing challenges in where and how we work and travel, aligning all initiatives with sustainable and socially responsible practices.

This role is crucial to driving +Impact's growth by building a robust pipeline of opportunities, engaging key stakeholders, and securing new business primarily in the UK, while also supporting expansion into the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern markets. You will work closely with internal teams and business partners to establish +Impact as a leading advisory brand. The position offers significant career development opportunities, combining the benefits of a niche advisory firm with the support of Serco's global scale. This role requires a dynamic leader who excels at driving strategy while diving into the details. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, balancing visionary thinking with hands-on execution to propel the team and organization toward our ambitious growth targets.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities in the UK and internationally.

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of prospects, ensuring alignment with +Impact's strategic goals.

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to engage potential clients, leveraging networks, frameworks, and market research.

  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders within target governmental bodies and departments.

  • Proactively engage with prospective clients through direct approaches and participation in relevant industry events.

  • Lead client meetings and presentations, articulating +Impact's value proposition and bespoke service offerings.

  • Lead the creation of high-quality proposals that align with +Impact's core service areas and meet client needs.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather insights and expertise necessary to create compelling, client-focused proposals.

  • Ensure all proposals are compliant with relevant frameworks and procurement processes.

  • Monitor and manage +Impact's presence on key government frameworks and procurement channels.

  • Identify opportunities to secure positions on new frameworks and ensure continued compliance with existing ones.

  • Work closely with the Chief Growth Officer and Chief of Staff to align business development activities with +Impact's overall strategy.

  • Provide insights on market trends, client needs, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decisions.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders within Serco to drive the success of this start-up advisory business.

Proven track record in business development within the public sector or regulated industries, ideally within a consultancy or advisory context.

  • Demonstrated success in securing new business and managing client relationships at a senior level.

  • Experience working with government frameworks and understanding public procurement processes.

  • International experience, particularly in Australia and the Middle East, is desirable.

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to translate +Impact's vision into actionable business development strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Proactive and independent, with a strong drive to identify and pursue new opportunities.

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in business, marketing, or a related field.

    A competitive six-figure base salary.

  • Bonus potential of up to 30%.

  • 10% contributory pension.

  • Company car or car allowance of £5,860.

  • A range of company benefits.

  • +Impact offers a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation. As part of Serco, +Impact provides significant career development opportunities within both the advisory business and the broader Serco Group, ensuring long-term growth and progression for the successful candidate.
