Full Job Description

The post holder plays a key role in supporting or leading on the various projects that arise either from the Estates Strategy, BAU minor works and the Environment and Sustainability Strategy or as part of the wider remit of work undertaken by the E&F department for Whittington Health. The post holder will often work on their own with set time scales and operational guidelines, but will form part of a wider team and support team members as necessary.

The post holder will lead the delivery of various projects from medium, major to complex multi-million value projects (e.g. variety of high level stakeholders, including external contractors and managers). Often with multiple projects at any one time. The post holder will work, from a projects inception and feasibility, with an oversight of project through then to completion, in order to achieve desired outputs within agreed time frame, within budget, to specification and operational standards. The post holder will undertake delivery tasks as well as managing the over plan.

Working with stakeholders is key to this role to ensure that patient and staff environments are suitable, practicable and considerate. The post holder must be able to engage with clients along the whole process of the project.

Main duties of the job

Provide project management expertise to both the team and on all owned projects, ensuring those projects have a RAP, brief, project plan, risk register and appropriate approvals.

Provide feasibility studies on proposed areas of work and change for Whittington Health, including holding and leading workshops and meetings to better understand the needs of the client.

Develop, implement and monitor good management practices in respect of the design, construction and delivery of assigned projects including relevant procurement and H&S processes and procedures, ensuring all projects go through Whittington Health's approval process in a timely manner and to a high quality of submission.

Ensure that major infrastructure/construction projects deliver planned performance and outputs to time, budget commitments and quality specifications by monitoring the activities of development partners and their contractors; highlighting risks and taking remedial actions as required

Maintain regular and accurate reporting to management, including analysis and evaluation of progress, with respect to the current and forecast status on assigned projects. Identify potential difficulties with project delivery and take appropriate remedial action.

Work with colleagues in the Estate Department to ensure clear communications are in place for each of the projects and their history and knowledge is understood, especially in terms of equipment and finish standards.
