We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational person to join our strong and dedicated team, working in the beautiful and historic surroundings of the Cathedral Close. The successful candidate will have experience of teaching Chemistry up to A Level, and should be able to teach an additional Science up to GCSE.

The Science Department is a very successful department within the school, teaching small groups in purpose built labs. Excellent results are achieved at both GCSE and A Level in all three sciences, for pupils of all abilities.

We have high expectations of our students and teach the subject in a lively and stimulating way that encourages them to enjoy science. A wide variety of approaches and teaching methods are used to develop students' key skills and the Department also prepares candidates for applications to competitive universities.

As a teacher you will join a thriving team who teach across the age and ability range throughout the school. Suitable candidates will have excellent academic qualifications and an innovative teaching style with a practical focus.

Your passion for your subject will be clear to the students and you will have an ability to build, develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all students, parents and colleagues alike. As part of a successful department, you will need to have a passion for teaching first class lessons and be prepared to contribute to the wider life of the school. Pupils enthusiastically join Science and Astronomy club, and we offer secondary science outreach to partner primary schools, which the whole department supports.

We are looking for the right candidate to fill this role to continue to deliver the excellent education upon which the school prides itself, as reflected in the most recent inspection report. A responsibility payment for Head of Chemistry may be available for the right candidate.
