Full Job Description

Commissioning and transformation are at the heart of how this can be realised - and in recognition of this, as part of the move of the commissioning and transformation function to the Children's and Families Directorate , we have created a new role - the Head of Children's Commissioning. This is an exciting opportunity to drive and further develop children's commissioning in Trafford. You will be joining an experienced team which is moving from an All Age Commissioning structure currently sitting in the Adults and Well-Being Directorate. We are proud of our work to date around placement sufficiency and SEND but recognise the crucial role that commissioning plays in our ability to transform services to ensure they best meet all our children's needs. You will be responsible for

  • Leading and managing the Children's Commissioning team, and overall management for commissioning activity in respect of for children and young people and their families in Trafford.
  • Working collaboratively with key partners within Trafford, particularly the Trafford Council Adults' commissioning team and Greater Manchester ICB
  • Driving commissioning-led transformation to achieve better outcomes for children and young people in Trafford and ensuring all commissioned services, both internal and external, are delivering value for money high quality services in line with agreed outcomes.
  • Effective management of the Commissioning team budget and associated commissioned services.

    We are looking for someone with excellent people leadership skills. You must be a strong communicator who has the ability to challenge and influence decision makers to ensure that the very best outcomes are achieved for children and young people. You should also have a proven ability to demonstrate strategic capability and capacity, strong planning and organisational skills and be able to manage complex commissioning across a range of needs for children.
