Full Job Description

Prax Group is currently seeking a high calibre, dynamic and energetic individual to join our finance team as Head of Direct Tax who will be responsible for direct tax advisory, compliance and reporting, risk management, transfer pricing and Tax Process Improvement. The role works closely with the Indirect tax team, finance and technology teams to help transform our tax processes and functions to ensure compliance and minimise time spent on manual process work. The role also involves liaising directly with HMRC and work with the wider business to ensure any initiatives are appropriately considered from a direct tax and transfer pricing perspective and implemented successfully. Reporting to the Global Head of Commercial Finance, the postholder's key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Work with advisors to oversee the tax compliance processes and transfer pricing.
  • Maintain direct tax risk register and highlight any key or emerging tax risks and work on resolutions.
  • Maintain the UK/Overseas local transfer pricing files and liaise with Group and relevant Regions in relation to transfer pricing obligations.
  • Work closely with the group reporting team and lead the tax accounting input for group year end, interim and statutory account reporting.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders: Work closely with various departments, including Legal, Finance, Treasury, and International Operations, to ensure cross-functional collaboration and alignment on tax-related matters.
  • Work with the business to understand and support any business initiatives and associated change impacts from requirements through to successful implementation to ensure compliance and accurate reporting including providing technical advice and working closely with advisors to add value to the business.
  • Identify potential tax risks and cash savings opportunities, and lead initiatives to manage the risks or realise the opportunities.
  • Deliver solutions to improve ability to meet reporting obligations (including pillar 2).
  • Fostering relationships with external partners and staying informed about industry trends.
  • Cultivate relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and industry peers to leverage their expertise and stay informed about global tax developments.
  • Build relationships and liaise with relevant HMRC officers and other relevant tax authorities on all direct tax matters.

    Accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA)
  • CiOT/ATT qualified.
  • Minimum 10 years of direct tax experience.
  • Experience in tax compliance, risk management, tax policy and transfer pricing.
  • Exposure to R&D claims process.
  • High level of knowledge of key business tools - MS Office, systems (SAP) and analytical tool.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry an advantage.
  • Self-starter, confident with working independently as well as working as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines and adapts to business needs.
  • Excellent time management/organisational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, proactive.
