Full Job Description

The Head of the Eating Disorder Services will have overall operational management responsibility for the defined service function within the Specialist Care Group. Working as part of a senior leadership team in their function, including professional leads, they will be responsible and accountable for effective service line management, operational delivery, workforce, quality and safety within their area of responsibility. The Head of Eating Disorders Services will ensure appropriate governance is in place for their service and will be responsible for ensuring services are transformed in line with national and local priorities and that services meet contractual and internal performance requirements. Working with the Head of Operations, Director of Operations and other Heads of Services & the Clinical & Care Director, as part of a leadership team for the Specialist Care Group the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that services are integrated around the needs of service users. This will include facilitating work on integrated pathways and ensuring representation of their service at appropriate forums. This post holder will be responsible for working closely with colleagues across the Trust to ensure consistency of delivery of services across Care Groups.,

  • Responsible for the effective service line management of the eating disorder facilities.
  • Ensuring services are delivered safely and effectively, working in partnership with professional and clinical leads.
  • Ensuring services are delivered within budget.
  • Ensuring services meet key performance indicators and contractual requirements.
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing levels and competencies within the eating disorder service.
  • Ensuring services are transformed in line with national and local priorities.
  • Responsible for tendering and implementation of new contracts in conjunction with the local provider collaborative (West Midlands Adult Eating Disorder Service Provider Collaborative)., Line management of Operational and Clinical Leads and professional leads such as Medical Leadership and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
  • Ensuring the service is a great place to work, embedding a devolved culture, ensuring we respond to listening into action feedback. Hold staff to account against objectives and valid measures of performance, coach Operational and Clinical Leads and Team Leads to be effective, self-reliant and proactive leaders in the organisation. Human Resource Management Undertake supportive and effective line management of those staff reporting directly to them. Manage in a methodical manner, holding Managers and Clinical Leads to account; address and manage poor performance as it is encountered. Undertake robust workforce planning and ensure that work force re-design opportunities are identified and considered to ensure effective use of Care Group resources and maximises a flexible workforce; ensure that resources and skill mix are optimised and employed to greatest effect. Budgetary, Commercial and Contractual Responsibilities Working with care Group Accountants set, manage and monitor budgets within the function, ensuring services are delivered in line with budget. Lead on business planning for their services and contributing to the Care Group's business planning cycle. Developing new services, supporting in tender activity and taking a leadership role for mobilising new services. Ensure that all services within the function are meeting contractual performance requirements and that regular reports including activity and financial information are supplied to commissioners. These should include early identification of any performance deviation. Working closely with the Head of Operations and relevant corporate colleagues to ensure that contracts are reviewed as required, that contract variations are agreed and signed off where necessary and that monthly contract information is accurate. Service Transformation Responsibility for the transformation and modernisation of their services in line with local and national strategy including mobilisation of new services. Ensuring services meet key performance indicators and internal and external targets identifying risks and mitigating actions. Ensuring effective management of capacity and demand within their services, including the maintenance of access times for services. Governance and Quality Ensuring robust and effective clinical and corporate governance within their sphere of responsibility including chairing monthly governance meetings for their area of responsibility.
