Full Job Description

We have a new opportunity for a Head of Ecommerce Trading to join our growing Head Office team following an internal move. This role will be split across our York and Leeds offices and an element of flexible/hybrid working can be considered. As Head of Ecommerce, you will lead our Ecommerce Trading Team based in York and Leeds, defining and implementing a high-performance strategy to maximise revenue and enhance the customer experience across our group websites. You'll work across the brands to develop and deliver mechanisms for profitable growth and digital participation. This role leads on driving commercial performance, unlocking tech priorities to drive conversion onsite and identifies and delivers commercial opportunities. You will bring strong strategic and leadership skills to build, develop, and execute the long-term trading strategy. By identifying opportunities to enhance the customer journey, you will play a key role in achieving company growth targets. Pavers has been trading for over 50 years and is a highly profitable and fast-growing family business with a strong balance sheet and a turnover over £200m. We also own the Jones Bootmaker, Herring Shoes, and Padders / Van Dal footwear business', remain acquisitive, and employ over 1900 people.,

  • Responsible for leading the development and implementation of the ecommerce trading strategy for the brands, including the trading calendar and merchandising optimisation (search, browse and navigation).
  • Oversee the implementation of trading and promotional strategies across the group's sites, aligned with the brand strategies.
  • Drive optimisation of the customer experience onsite through best-in-class merchandising, campaign delivery and alignment with the marketing plan.
  • Lead the team to achieve KPIs, including conversion rate, bounce rate, average order value (AOV), exit rates, and traffic.
  • Analyse Google Analytics and performance reports and make proposals to improve product merchandising and conversion.
  • Lead the team to maximise profitable growth by actively seeking to identify sales and profit driving initiatives including product launch optimisation, option and size availability, payments, delivery and returns propositions and the multichannel customer experience.
  • Drive the CRO and development roadmaps across the websites including the development and launch of Mobile Apps for the brands.
  • Lead the international rollout and localisation of the website across Europe, North and South America and APAC.
  • Progress AI capabilities to drive the customer experience and resource efficiencies.
  • Encourage collaboration across teams, especially with brand and creative teams, to ensure timely product requirements.
  • Stay up to date with ecommerce innovations, online retailing trends, and logistics that could impact trade performance.

  • Works in collaboration with the Heads of to run the week-to-week business.
  • Ensures succession in all key roles through spotting talent, nurturing it and making sure the best people are in roles.
  • Develop and drive execution of a profitable e-commerce trading plan across all categories and sales channels.

    5+ years' experience in online trading/merchandising, including team leadership.

  • Proficiency with major ecommerce platforms, tools, and backend systems, Shopify experience would be ideal.

  • Experience in international group trading.
  • Data-driven and highly analytical approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to influence at all levels.
  • Experience of working in an agile manner through KPIs.
  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills with excellent time management.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong attention to accuracy.
