This is an excellent opportunity to develop crisis management skills., GO-Science is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join us as Head of Engagement. If you have experience in stakeholder engagement or secretariat functions and are looking for a new challenge this role could be for you.
As Head of Engagement, you will provide leadership to a small team within the CST secretariat responsible for maintaining the Council’s reputation and influence., Stakeholder management is a key part of this role so highly developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills are crucial, as is a flexible approach to balancing the competing demands of stakeholders and workloads. The postholder will be responsible for:

• Defining and leading the Council’s stakeholder engagement functions including engagement with Ministers, senior government officials, and domestic and international stakeholders from across the science, technology and innovation community.

• Leading a small team responsible for the planning of quarterly CST meetings with Ministers and senior government representatives and to arrange expert guest speakers.

• Leading the Council’s international engagement programme with equivalent Prime Ministerial/Presidential Councils, including the US President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

• Leading on secretariat functions and membership, including correspondence, performance, recruitment and ensuring good practice on standards in public life.

Office attendance
The Department operates a discretionary hybrid working policy, which provides for a combination of working hours from your place of work and from your home in the UK.
