Full Job Description

The Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) provides internal audit services and support for the UK government. Our customers include all ministerial departments and many non-ministerial departments, agencies and public bodies.
GIAA values innovation, forward-thinking, and collaboration to incorporate new ideas, methods, and technologies for fresh, modern, and efficient work.
Our company was nominated as a top 5 winner in the Government Category for the 2023 Inspiring Workplaces Awards. We were also recognised for 'Outstanding Team' and 'Inspirational Leader' at the IIA Audit and Risk Awards.

About the Job
In this role, you will:
Deliver strategic and operational Finance and Commercial services across the Agency with political astuteness and a focus on issues across government which may affect the Agency.
Be able to speak 'non-financially' to drive engagement and understanding of financial information to support robust and informed decision-making.
Own and continuously improve Agency financial modelling including the customer charging model and strategically contribute to onward charging models.
Lead, manage, and motivate a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team of subject matter experts. Have high capability levels to do things once and well.
Take charge of developing a centralised finance and commercial reporting system that satisfies the needs of collaborators, customers, partners, and team members. The system should be efficient, aid decision-making, and provide tangible benefits.

If you take on this position, you should have extensive experience in management or financial accounting. It is important that you understand the public spending control framework, issues that government faces, and know how to prepare annual financial statements and undergo external audits. Additionally, you should possess strong analytical and business skills and be able to communicate financial information in a way that is easily understood by non-finance personnel, promoting informed decision-making.

You'll be an experienced leader and manager, with excellent organisational skills, self-motivation, a proactive attitude, and energy to deliver work to tight deadlines and high quality. It is essential to have experience in financially driven continuous improvement and efficiency that supports business modelling and financial sustainability. Lastly, experience in working in partnership with commercial teams to champion an organisation-wide commercial approach, while also driving efficient and effective strategies.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, and we welcome applications from candidates who wish to work flexibly, for example, part-time, term time or job share.

Hybrid Working is available to GIAA colleagues. This means a combination of office working and working from home. This includes time spent in our GIAA office locations and can also include any time spent attending our customers' sites.
