Head of Food Production

Reporting to our Commerce CEO, we are looking for a highly motivated and professional leader to oversee the development and expansion of our food production to include, commercial fruit and vegetable growing, bakery, butchery, cheesemaking, juice pressing and ready to eat meals. As the Head of Production, you will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of a purpose built hub which includes a state of the art butchery, centralised bakery and production kitchen, vegetable and fruit prep, hydroponic greenhouses and market gardens. You will lead a passionate and creative team of product owners and developers, taking new products through from concept to launch.,

• Leadership & development lead the expansion and development of a high quality range of fresh and frozen newt products for our ecommerce, retail and estate businesses.
• Supply chain - develop and actively manage internal supplier relationships, ensuring business requirements are fully understood and met, and that performance is measured and regularly evaluated.
• Achieving Quality Develop new products as appropriate to support the growth of The Newt's commercial offer, ensuring the necessary criteria are met in respect of production innovation, process and quality.
• Cost Management Influence every stage of the production cycle to ensure new products are developed at commercially viable margins.
Tender, negotiate and implement supplier contracts. Accurately manage and reconcile centralised stock holding.
• Performance Management - Develop and nurture strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Food Safety Demonstrate skills and qualifications across HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and IOSH managing safely.
  
  Experience of leading and motivating a large team
• A passion for food and developing products
• An excellent problem solver and key influencer
• Track record of managing P&Ls
• Experience of working in a similar environment
• Commercial acumen, constantly looking for ways to improve.
• Strong communicator, able to explain complex issues in simple terms

• An online store and warehouse that deliver high quality fresh and home products nationwide via a courier network.
• Three physical shops on the estate and at the Creamery.
• Nearing completion : Extensive facilities to produce our own branded food products.
• New butchery (recently completed).
• A unit contracting 3rd party producers to deliver products to our ecosystem.
• Greenhouses for producing vegetables under ideal conditions.
