Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, innovative, and enthusiastic full-time Head of History and Politics.

You will be heading up a well-resourced and popular department which delivers GCSE History and both A Level History and A Level Politics. The department has membership of the History Association, with all its teaching materials and CPD.

At Luckley House, History is a very popular option for both GCSE and A Level, and many of our students have gone on to read the subject at University. We follow the AQA specification, teaching Nazi Germany, Medicine, the Age of Elizabeth, and Conflict and Tension in Asia at GCSE. At A Level, we teach the English Civil War and Russian history from 1855 to 1957. Politics has become an increasingly popular choice at A Level and also follows the AQA specification teaching the following content: Government in the UK, Politics of the UK, Government and Politics in the USA, Comparative Politics and Political Ideologies.

The successful applicant will combine a love of History and Politics with strong organisational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work and collaborate with others. Heads of Department are line-managed by the Deputy Head (Academic) who will ensure a thorough and supportive handover.

The ability to teach Politics at A Level, as well as History, is an essential requirement for this role.
