Full Job Description

The Market Bosworth School is seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher to join and lead our experienced department team in the delivery of History, Geography and CARE (Citizenship and RE). The successful candidate will play a vital role in the success of the school and will be integral to our future development.

The Market Bosworth School is very proud of its students and staff. We have excellent academic standards and work hard to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all. We have been consistently rated as an "Outstanding" school by Ofsted, in 2009, 2012, 2018 and 2024. In their most recent Outstanding judgement, inspectors commented that the "School's values of success, togetherness, enjoyment, engagement and responsibility underpin everything it does".

Our Humanities Department is very strong, helping our students achieve amazing KS4 results. Progress is incredibly strong and students achieved average provisional scores in 2024 of +0.79, +0.86 and +0.33 respectively for History, Geography and Citizenship.

Humanities plays a huge part in the academic and enrichment aspects of school life at The Market Bosworth School.

At Key Stage 3, students have 3 one hour lessons of History and 3 one hour lessons of Geography across their two-week timetable. In addition to this, all students at KS3 receive 3 lessons a fortnight of CARE (Citizenship and Religious Education).

At Key Stage 4, all students choose to follow either History or Geography at GCSE, delivered across 5 lessons a fortnight in line with their other option subjects. All students also follow CARE, mapped across the curriculum and tutor time. Optionally, students can choose to undertake Citizenship at GCSE. Whilst the school do not currently offer RE at GCSE level, this has previously been an option and the school would like to offer this if possible moving forward.

The school provides a range of international trips and enrichment activities, which are often supported or led by members of our Humanities team. These have included Iceland, Normandy, Berlin & Krakow residential visits, alongside day enrichment trips such as Dovedale and Kenilworth Castle.

Currently, students are taught in mixed ability groups, but there is usually capacity for setting by ability if desired. Our KS3 curriculum's primary focus is to develop a love of learning and appreciation for the subjects whilst developing key skills such as
