Full Job Description

We are looking for a Head of ICP to join Mitie Projects, reporting to the CC&D Managing Director, who will be accountable for its all overarching operational and growth elements. You will be responsible for all elements within this newly formed ICP Business Unit. There will be a huge focus and emphasis on integrating the 3 business units: RCP, G2 and ESM., The ICP; Independent Connect Power BU size will have over 300 people and be starting FY24 at 80 million and finishing FY27 at 150 million

-This position will be responsible setting up and improving engineering standards and excellence. For having an overview of all engineering specialist teams, have oversight of key deliverables, ultimately accountable for delivering projects on time, within budget and with quality results whilst ensuring safety and quality in all aspects.

-Drive the one ICP mentality, bring all interested/dissenting parties along the journey through deploying change management skills and leadership techniques. Reward, recognise and drive excellent performance and challenge those that are not on the same trajectory to bring them along or exit them from the business.

-Ensure we improve efficiency, reduce or repurpose duplicated headcount, streamline services to ensure one robust Business Unit

-The post holder will organise, monitor, and oversee all functions and projects within the ICP Business unit which may include research, operational reviews, project planning and design, and construction administration.

-Liaison with key clients

-Determine longer term operating model of the ICP

-Driving and protecting the One Mitie behaviour and holding our leaders to account when they are not working to this same standard

Responsibilities

-Responsible for the multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, planners, designers and other staff all homed with the ICP BU

-Be the visible and standout leader within the ICP, be available whilst not being the agony aunt to all challenges, have a listening and available ear

-Oversee project work plans and schedules, and obtain management/client approval

-Maintain continuing business relationships with internal team as well as external consultants/contractors/partners and clients as part of ongoing activities

-Hire talented individuals to form our future leadership team in this discipline

-Balance scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks and make adjustments as necessary

-Proactively track, analyse and report on enterprise project performance against the AOP and project plans, oversee/sign off on the cost and schedule reporting, both for clients and as part of internal reporting processes

-Driving the One Mitie behaviour Analyse project management and project delivery risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action

-Lean into and use all Centres of Excellence who are there to support you and your newly formed BU

-Call upon the wider CC&D Team to support you and your newly formed team to ensure early successes and wins

-Lead on training programs ensuring clarity and ownership of contract obligations, risks, opportunities, and engineering specialisms

-Provide training, tools, and processes to improve performance

-Build an inclusive environment across team members, not only within their region and across Mitie

Leadership Skills

-You will set the agenda and drive talent and overseeing all staff developments in line with career pathways and team progression

-Ensuring compliance with Mitie's commercial policies and processes, ensuring that delegated authorities are communicated, understood, and complied.

-Own the review process for Engineering opportunities; identifying any key quality and delivery risks and preparing the legal summaries required for Projects Exco; BidCo and RiskCo reviews

Individual Specification

-University degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering (preferably with a structural major) and hold chartered engineer status

-Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety in complexity, size and scope;

-A track record that clearly demonstrates effective leadership when interacting with multiple external clients and stakeholders;

-Excellent oral and written English communication skills essential;

-Excellent organisational and time management skills

-Relevant market/Industry experience (Build environment and construction)
