Full Job Description

  • Developing and maintaining the infrastructure architecture supporting strategic discussion with CTO and ensuring SME input from teams.

  • Developing and maintaining the security architecture supporting strategic discussion with CTO and ensuring SME input from teams.

  • Ensuring security scans are performed across the Achilles Information Ltd businesses and PEN tests are performed across key platforms, at least annually, and supporting the CTO to drive any remediation activity across wider teams based on scan/tests outcomes.

  • Understanding latest security risk assessments and ensuring Achilles has an appropriate degree of protection in place.

  • Determining parameters for technology maintenance and retirement/refresh programme.

  • Undertake regular market testing to ensure the right technologies and costs are maintained.

  • Ensure accuracy in 3rd invoices and maintain determination to hold or beat annual budget across all IT related services / contracts.


  • SERVICE SUPPORT
  • Ensuring the necessary resource and capability is available to meet agreed service levels.

  • Ensuring effective break-fix provision in a cost-effective manner.

  • Ensuring IT environment is secure and all agreed security provisions are in place.

  • Operating the infrastructure and security model for Achilles and ensuring it is understood and effectively executed across the team.

  • Acting as the senior coordinator and escalation point on infrastructure or security issues for crisis and major incident management.

  • Monitoring service levels and planning and scheduling infrastructure resources accordingly.

  • Implementing IT procedures, policies and practices in line with ISO27001/ISO9001 and ensure these standards are followed by the team.

  • Acting as escalation point for issues and problems as a senior manager within Infrastructure & Security.


  • SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
  • Working with internal Achilles stakeholders to develop business requirements for internal and external Achilles IT systems.

  • Facilitating and coaching Infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure effective service transition.

  • Ensuring the necessary resource and capability is available to ensure service transition delivers to agreed time, cost and quality standards.

  • Determine internal Infrastructure and DevOps projects to deliver ongoing improvement to the relevant functions and ensure appropriate allocation of resources and capability.

  • Setting, managing and reporting on IT KPI's. Prepare overall status and activity metrics that documents and tracks delivery of IT services.

  • Contributing to the solution design & evaluation of infrastructure changes, projects etc.

  • Qualifications IT Degree level or equivalent experience
    ITIL, Prince 2, CCNP, CCDP, MCSE, CISSP or CISM
    Working knowledge and experience of ISO27001 and or ISO9001,

  • Articulates the assumptions made and the risks involved in decisions taken.

  • Analyses information carefully to identify facts, patterns, trends and missing data that may impact on a decision.

  • EXPERIENCE
  • Essential: Experience of effectively managing a remote-working team, undertaking relevant people management activities such as hiring, onboarding, performance management, learning & development and reward.

  • Essential: Experience of managing 3rd party IT Suppliers

  • Essential: Experience of working and supporting SMEs in all aspects of Infrastructure and Security such as:

  • o WAN, LAN, VLAN's VPN's IP Service provision along with a base understanding of these disciplines.
    o Microsoft networked environment - Active Directory, Windows & Server Operating Systems, End User and Server Builds, SCCM along with a base understanding of these disciplines.
    o Accreditations/Certifications e.g. ISO27001
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Firewalls, Routers, Switches, VPN's, VLAN's, IP Services

  • Desirable: Anti-Virus Management experience
