The role of the post-holder is to provide leadership for a range of ionising radiation clinical, scientific and advisory services that involve the application of ionising radiation within Cardiff and Vale UHB and South-East Wales. The post-holder will be appointed as a Principal or Consultant Clinical Scientist, depending on HSSR status., The role of the post-holder is to provide leadership for a range of ionising radiation clinical, scientific and advisory services that involve the application of ionising radiation within Cardiff and Vale UHB and South-East Wales.
The post holder will be a member of staff of the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE) in the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (C&V UHB); MPCE comprises four sections: CEDAR (Centre for Healthcare Evaluation, Device Assessment and Research) Clinical Engineering, Ionising Radiation Physics, and Non-ionising Radiation Physics. The post holder will also provide Nuclear Medicine expertise in the wider sub-regional area. The role will cover clinical, scientific and advisory services for Oncology and other applications.
The post-holder is expected to provide specialist advice at Medical Physics Expert (MPE) level to multidisciplinary teams (including Radiographers, Consultant Clinicians, Consultant Radiologists, nurses and other service users). Additional MPE duties include the set-up and implementation work required for participation in local and national multi-centre clinical trials. The post is located within the Ionising Radiation Physics section but has strong collaborative links with the UHB Radiology service, the Cardiff University Positron Emission Tomography Imaging Centre (PETIC) and Velindre University NHS Trust.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
