Head of Kitchen - Primary Schools in Thurrock

The Head of Kitchen will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and service. This role requires flexibility to cover absences and high workloads as needed. The ideal candidate will ensure that meals are prepared and served to a high standard, adhering to menu cycles and dietary requirements., Supervise, motivate, and direct kitchen staff, including induction and training.
Comply with and produce the menu cycle, ensuring variety and nutritional balance.
Perform skilled cooking activities, ensuring effective portion control.
Maintain effective ordering procedures and systems.
Provide special dietary meals as required.
Ensure contract standards and targets are met.
Deliver management and financial information to the Catering Department.
Assist with service delivery in other kitchens when required.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure the kitchen operates safely and efficiently.

Essential: Level 2/3 Food Hygiene Certificate, City & Guilds 706 1 / 2 or NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking, Health and Safety Training, Allergen Legislation Training.
