Full time
For April 2025
The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country's leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London. The School's facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work. The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.
We currently seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced applicant to join us as a Head of Section, in the leadership role of Head of Lower School (Years 7-9), from April 2025. The role has arisen due to the internal promotion of the current postholder to a senior leadership position and is a rare and exciting opportunity for an inspiring leader who is passionate about education and the development of young people. The Head of Lower School coordinates the work of three Deputy Heads of Lower School, each with specific responsibility for the three year groups in the section. The Head of Lower School holds a central role in the delivery and development of the school's pastoral provision, overseen by our Deputy Head (Pastoral), and in ensuring a close alignment between the academic and pastoral sides of school life. The role offers superb capacity to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and it is the ideal opportunity for someone looking to join a Senior Leadership Team in the
future.
We will require the successful candidate to teach one of the subjects which we currently offer, on a reduced timetable.
All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.
For further information about our school and this role, please visit www.godolphinandlatymer.com. Fully completed application forms must be returned to recruitment@godolphinandlatymer.com by noon on the closing date. Please note that applications must be made on the school's application form. Neither CVs nor late applications will be accepted..
The closing date for this vacancy is noon on Wednesday 20 November 2024.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place during the week commencing 25 November 2024.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application.
All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis [which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children."
