Full Job Description

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Head of Music to join our friendly and ever-evolving department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach students across KS3, KS4 and KS5.

At Outwood Grange Academy we have impressive facilities, within a dedicated Performance Arts block. We are proud to be a successful performing arts department within the Trust, and regularly host and invite the community into the academy to enjoy our professional standard productions. We are an Ofsted rated Good with Outstanding leadership 11-18 academy, with state-of-the-art facilities, based in Wakefield. We have won numerous awards as a school and are an IQM Centre of Excellence, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded the Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.

We have a nurturing school community that is welcoming and friendly, where students and staff can make excellent progress together, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased attainment, achievement and social and emotional development.

The department has a strong curriculum that is well-planned and ready to deliver, with the flexibility to allow for the successful candidate to contribute their own creative ideas and style of pedagogy. The department engages in a range of extra curricular activities throughout the year including an annual musical and weekly enrichment clubs including drama, musical theatre, rock band and music. The academy also participates in Trust events such as Outwood Performance of the Year.
