Head of Net Zero

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Net Zero at Sunbelt Rentals UK. This is a National role and you will be supporting the sustainability side of Sunbelt Rentals.

Working across the business, you will have responsibility for managing the company Net Zero strategy and reporting processes both internally and externally. You will be responsible for developing and delivering sustainability partnerships and initiatives across Sunbelt Rentals and will be an internal and external vocal advocate towards supporting our company on its best-in-class journey towards sustainability stewardship

This role works with senior stakeholders to determine how our company can reduce our environmental footprint, especially in GHG emissions. The role is highly collaborative, working with several departments that provide data to support our objectives.
Key Responsibilities;

• Lead on the development and delivery of the company Net Zero Strategy.


• Lead on the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) requirements.


• Lead on the collation and analysis of accurate sustainability data.


• Lead on thought-leadership and research projects and provide support to both external and internal communications teams.


• Support the Health, Safety & Sustainability Director develop & implement the UK & Europe Sustainability plans.


• Support the Transportation & Fleet teams to identify and implement a carbon reduction strategy.


• Support the Facilities team to identify and implement a property carbon reduction strategy.


• Support the Asset team to identify low carbon technologies and work alongside customers to support their selection of low carbon equipment.


• Support the Procurement team in the development and implementation of the Sustainable Supply Chain Strategy.


• Support the Head of Performance Standards in maintaining the company ISO 14001 & 50001 accreditation, whilst identifying best practice and areas for continual improvement.


• Support the development of communication plans and strategies related to Net Zero, looking at ways in which to engage staff, suppliers and customers.


• Represent the business at specified Ashtead Group Sustainability meetings.


• Represent the business at specified industry forums and customer events.
  
  To be successful in this role you will likely be in a similar position. A history of equipment rental or construction industries is preferable.


You will be comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines whilst still maintaining a professional and approachable manner. You will effectively represent the business to customers and external federations in all situations and comfortably work as part of a wider team.
The Ideal candidate will have the following;

• Degree in Sustainability or a related field plus a minimum of 5+ years experience.


• Hold Associate, Technical or Graduate membership of the Chartered Institute for the Environment, or Practitioner / full member of IEMA.


• Able to demonstrate significant professional experience in contributing to the delivery of Net Zero & Sustainability strategy.


• Able to work on your own initiative.


• Able to effectively represent the business on Customer forums, industry Federations.


• Able to work effectively as part of a wider team.


• Good communication skills at all levels.


• Comfortable in front of the senior management teams & customers.


• Methodical approach to problem solving with an eye for detail.


• Computer literate and a working knowledge of Microsoft products.
