Full Job Description

Maternity cover is required for the Urgent and Emergency Care directorate, in order to support the development of new ways of working and pathways of care to improve patient care and experience with the Emergency departments, and Emergency floor assessment units.
This post will be based primarily at the St.Richards site but may require some cross cover to Worthing if needed.
The Head of Nursing will focus on the provision of high quality, visible and professional leadership. You will be accountable for setting and maintaining standards of clinical excellence, improving outcomes and the patient experience.
You will work with a high level of autonomy to ensure that you and your team achieve and exceed the many demands made of you.
You will need to be a strong communicator to deliver change in an engaging way and articulate our vision of becoming an outstanding trust, delivering excellent healthcare in our hospitals for a truly transformed future state to challenge the traditional systems and ways of thinking. This will enable us to build a service providing excellent quality care to our local community in which we serve.
Experience within the relevant speciality would be desirable as the role will require clear understanding of urgent and emergency care processes in order to support the teams, in implementing change to take forward the urgent care agenda., We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
The Head of Nursing is an integral member of the Divisional management team supporting the Division in the delivery of key performance targets and the Clinical strategy. The post holder will provide proactive senior nursing leadership and management for a defined directorate(s) within the Division.
As an experienced senior nurse, the post holder will be expected to focus on providing a clean, safe environment for patients in line with the highest clinical care and infection control standards ensuring patients receive optimum care whilst being treated with dignity and respect.
The post holder will be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality governance arrangements that are in place within the Division. In conjunction with and on behalf of the Divisional director of Nursing, the post holder will address CQC standards, risk management, review critical incidents, identify and review key clinical and service indicators/audit outcomes and implement information governance requirements.
They will be responsible for the performance and delivery of safe, high quality nursing services within the designated area of responsibility and providing cross cover to other areas as required.
