Full Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Operations to lead the operations team in assisting the company to deliver on projects. The operations team are a centralised function for scheduling and planning, sourcing materials and labour, and ensuring everything is in place for quality delivery of projects. The team are critical to helping ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and to the agreed budget., You will head up the central Operations Team, working closely with the Managing Director and front-line Project and Account Managers. You and the team will be responsible for the following:

  • Coordinating agreed activities across our construction sites


  • Manage the Operations team to support project delivery and Project Managers


  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation


  • Supporting the Project Managers to define the project scope, project activities and dates, involving all relevant stakeholders (internal and external)


  • Monitoring and tracking project progress against the detailed project plan - identifying risk and supporting the Project Manager in identifying mitigation activities


  • Support in preparation of H&S documentation


  • Procurement of materials and organising labour


  • Vetting of staff


  • Ensuring full visibility of activity, costs and risks across all areas of the project (working with the project managers)


  • Coordinating the project activities by working with all stakeholders to enable flawless execution of the project


  • Successfully managing relationships with all internal and some external facing stakeholders

    The team are regularly supporting up to 20 projects at any one time so juggling work and time management is a skill you need to possess.


  • This role might appeal to someone who has had years of experience as a front-line project manager and no longer wishes to travel, however can put their skills to real use supporting those on site.

    To be considered for this role, you MUST:
  • Have experience as a construction Project Manager. We will consider Junior Project Managers or Project Administrators with good experience and management skills.


  • Experience managing a team.


  • Experience with procurement and project management/administration.


  • Be efficient, can juggle multiple projects, well organised and able to communicate at all levels., A very good understanding of end-to-end construction project management delivery. Ideally 3+ years relevant experience


  • Team management skills


  • Someone who enjoys problem solving


  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Be confident in leading the team and communicating internally.


  • Hyper organised; capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritising well


  • Comfortable working with numbers and data


  • Works well under pressure and is able to fast decisions


  • Can lead and mentor the team
