What you'll do
As the Head of Organisation Effectiveness at Sainsbury's, you will be responsible for owning and driving quality and innovative organisation and ways of working design. This role requires you to configure outcomes, activity, structures, and systems in alignment with the desired strategy to create an effective organisation that drives value creation, colleague engagement, optimises efficiencies, and ultimately enhances profitability. You will partner with the business to drive performance by establishing clear accountabilities and performance measures, creating organisational capacity and productivity, and right-sizing the organisation size and shape. Your role involves working across multiple senior stakeholder groups to identify and assess organisation effectiveness interventions, developing and owning the forward organisational roadmap, driving organisation design and behavioural change projects, and ensuring the Sainsbury's approach to organisation design is continuously
fit for purpose. Additionally, you will provide leadership, expertise, and training in organisation design tools, keep up to date with industry trends, and demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management skills. As a people manager, you will also fulfil people management accountabilities.

As the Head of Organisation Effectiveness for Sainsbury's, you are a highly skilled and experienced professional with an extensive background in organisation design, ways of working, and behavioural change. With your strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong data capabilities, you drive quality and innovative design solutions that align with the overall business strategy. Your broad understanding of organisation effectiveness theory and methodology, coupled with practical experience in managing large-scale transformational change, allows you to partner with the business and HR stakeholders to identify and assess interventions that drive business performance. By leveraging your exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities, you build trusted relationships and provide guidance and expertise on organisation design and performance matters. With your resilience, tenacity, and high commercial acumen, you ensure the successful delivery of organisation
effectiveness initiatives that optimise efficiencies, drive colleague engagement, and ultimately contribute to the profitability of Sainsbury's.
What you need to know and show

A broad understanding of Organisation Effectiveness and Design, Ways of Working and Behavioural Change theory and methodology in addition to practical application
Extensive technical experience in the field of organisation design is essential
Experience in managing and implementing large scale transformational change with clear business improvement
Knowledge and experience of how Talent, L&D, Reward, Recruitment, ER and Change Management can be used to deliver great Organisational Effectiveness interventions
CIPD Level 7 Advanced Award in Organisation Design and Development or MCIPD qualified or relevant Senior HR or operational experience
Applied experience in job role evaluation e.g., Hay, Towers Watson or SHL
Practitioner in; Agile, Six Sigma or Lean
Practical experience of working with third party consultants or external stakeholders
Strategic thinking and robust planning, organising self and co-ordinating others across a broad time frame
Strong data and analytical skills, rigour, and written capability
Working in an innovative and conceptual capacity, designing new ways of operating
Sound judgement, dealing with situations from a background of conceptual understanding and practical experience
Understands complex subjects and translating them into simple plans and approaches
Influencing multiple stakeholders through applying clear technical knowledge, rationale or providing both high challenge and support
Outstanding verbal communication skills in order to understand and simply explain complex processes and strategies to senior stakeholders
Applying judgement, comfortable working with ambiguity, being able to think within broadly defined organisational policies and objectives
High commercial acumen across multiple functions
Resilience and tenacity to manage conflicting demands
