Job Title: Head of PE

Start Date: To be determined - April 2025 (Summer term) or September 2025

Hours: Full time

Contract: Permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS & TLR 2c (£8278)

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic and committed leader of our Physical Education department.

This post is suitable for an experienced teacher who is able to obtain the best outcomes for their pupils and is looking to take the step of leading a well-established department or an experienced leader in education.

This is an important middle leadership role with the responsibility to work with the members of the department to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning, health and safety and secure aspirational outcomes.

The PE team is made up of 9 staff, with 7 PE teachers, a PE apprentice and a former professional footballer who supports the brand-new football academy and PE curriculum.

The school has excellent sporting facilities including a large sports hall, fully equipped fitness suite and Astroturf.

At KS3 all students study PE for 4 lessons across a 2 week timetable and at KS4 all students have 2 core PE lessons. At KS4 students can choose to study GCSE PE or OCR Cambridge sport. At KS5 we offer a number of pathways including A-Level sport science, BTEC sport and this academic year we have launched our own football academy. Outcomes for our students are positive with several our students going on to study the subject further or explore a career in the sporting field. The PE team offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, a passion to increase the uptake of sporting activities in our young people is essential.

Continued Professional Development is a priority of the school with a shared CPD period on the timetable.
