Full Job Description
Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government's immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. It also aims to disrupt the organised criminal groups that exploit the vulnerable for their personal gain. Learn more on our careers pages.
Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) and Reporting Offender Management (ROM) South Region covers a large geographical area and includes seven ICE Teams and three ROM teams working from different locations. The Head for ICE & ROM South is currently based at Lower Thames Street in central London.
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to step into a senior leadership role, where you will play a key part in providing visible and inspirational leadership to operational delivery teams, including supporting them through transformational change.
You will be required to spend a minimum of two days per week with your senior management team in central London. The role also requires travel to visit all locations in our region on a regular basis. A high degree of senior leadership visibility is required so hybrid working opportunities are limited.
Reporting to the Head for ICE & ROM South, you will provide strategic direction and leadership, driving performance improvements and increasing professionalism and accountability.
You will lead a truly professional, high-performing team with the necessary capabilities and skills to deliver for Immigration Enforcement and the wider Home Office. Equality, diversity, inclusion, and fairness are at the heart of Immigration Enforcement. You will play a lead role in promoting and championing this through everything you do.
The key focus of this role is people based and you will lead on strategic workforce planning, recruitment, our regional people plan, wellbeing and developing and building capability for everyone in our region.
You will line manage operational teams to deliver effective performance against changing key priorities, focussing on innovation and continuous improvement to drive tangible increases to productivity and efficiency. IE priorities are derived from national strategic priorities and currently include harm reduction and maximising returns, achieved through various types of operational activity, both in the community and within our Reporting Centres.
You must be willing to undertake the Immigration Enforcement PPST Arrest Training and complete the full Pathway training if you have not already done so. This is a uniformed role, so you will be expected to wear the uniform provided.
You will be trained to PPST level 3 to allow you to accompany teams on operational enforcement activity in the community to give yourself a good understanding of the challenges and issues staff face when working with the public and our partners.
You will also build and maintain valuable strategic partnerships with colleagues across the migration system, representing your region and IE nationally to deliver and encourage innovative ways to improve performance. It is essential that you quickly develop strong relationships with external stakeholders and are prepared to influence and work collaboratively with others to achieve common objectives.
