We are looking to appoint someone with a passion for Music and the Performing Arts to lead our amazing Performing Arts Department. The ability to teach Music is essential. Outwood Academy Acklam, the first Outwood school in Teesside, has an enrollment of almost 1200 students each academic year. In its most recent assessment, it was recognized as a GOOD school with EXCEPTIONAL leadership. The academy is a vibrant and diverse 11-16 academy. The academy offers effective care and support for students, particularly those with special needs, and with a strong emphasis on academic achievement, it provides the perfect environment for anyone dedicated to empowering their students. The Performing Arts Department consists of a small team of dedicated colleagues with access to amazing facilities; large theatre, music practice rooms and brand new, dedicated drama rooms. The department is also supported by One to One Music Tutors. As a Head of Department you will be responsible for leading a department in your subject to ensure that a clear, effective and appropriate teaching and learning environment is being provided to students. Other responsibilities include giving a clear direction and purpose for your department through clear and cohesive leadership, supporting colleagues in the development of strategies and ensuring teacher trainees and ECTs are being provided with a supportive and developmental experience. This is an excellent opportunity for any experienced subject teachers who have experience in supporting their Head of Department, or current Department Heads who are looking to join an organisation that can offer further progression into school leadership.
