Full Job Description

Our School

More House School is a leading Catholic independent senior school for girls in the heart of Knightsbridge, where we celebrate diversity in our pupils and staff. As a small school, we foster strong relationships within our community and as a result, staff tend to stay with us long-term.

The school is ideally located on Pont Street, within easy reach of Knightsbridge and Sloane Square tubes, with many wonderful shops, restaurants, galleries, museums and theatres on our doorstep. We recently celebrated fifty years on the present site, having moved from Cromwell Road in 1971.

Class sizes are small, teaching allocations are realistic and staff wellbeing time is offered to each member of staff every term. All school staff are provided with tea and coffee, break-time snacks and a three-course lunch in the school dining room. Departments are encouraged to develop their own feedback policies that support student progress whilst being time efficient and there is one data drop at the end of each term.

The Role of Head of Physical Education

More House School is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to lead the PE Department. We seek to appoint an enthusiastic teacher with a real passion for PE who is committed to the success of the pupils and is highly motivated to develop the sport at the school.

The PE Department at More House School plays an important role in the School life. The girls play netball, hockey and rounders as their core sports.

It is an expectation that members of the Physical Education Department contribute to before school, lunchtime and after school sporting activities. The department takes full advantage of the outstanding local sports facilities at Battersea Park, Imperial College, Latchmere Leisure Centre and Fulham Reach.

At Key Stage 4, pupils may study PE at GCSE under the AQA exam board specification. Additionally, at A Level we offer Physical Education under the OCR board and OCR Cambridge Technical Level. The candidate will ideally have experience in leading and completing the moderation for these courses.

This is a great department to work in and we look forward to welcoming someone who is as energetic and passionate as we are.

A highly competitive salary is available, together with a clear programme of staff development and opportunities for promotion.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the strategic direction and development of the department from January 2025

Please note that applications must be made on the TES application form. CVs alone will not be accepted.

More House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Our recruitment process follows the guidelines in KCSIE. Applicants undergo enhanced screening including checks with past employers, the DFE and the DBS.
