Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced strategic and commercial leader to lead the development of Royal Papworth's Private Care service. This is a new role, demonstrating the Trust's commitment to the development of Private Care and the role will have significant influence on the future direction of the service.

The role will provide leadership and direction to the service from a strategic and operational perspective, growing the service sustainably. The role will be the figurehead for Private Care, collaborating with stakeholders internally and externally to successfully build the brand and deliver a service offering that is fit for purpose for both consultants and patients. The role will work with existing functions across the Trust to develop and implement a Private Care Strategy that delivers on growth objectives.

The role will require rounded leadership and excellent strategic skills, combined with the ability to establish strong relationships. Main duties of the job

Strategy: provide strategic and operational leadership for Private Care. Lead the development and delivery of a Private Care strategy, including a target operating model for the underpinning delivery infrastructure.

Operational, delivery and governance: accountable for the performance and management of private care services, including the delivery of operational capacity and a functioning service model that is for the purpose for both patients and consultants. Ensure that the underpinning team structure and wider infrastructure that supports the service is in plan and fit for purpose to deliver the Trust's ambitions. Where this is not the case, be skilled in identifying the gaps and developing business cases to implement solutions.

Putting people first: model inclusive and collaborative behaviours that foster a sense of belonging. Coach, inspire and motivate the team and others, empowering them to achieve their potential and in turn build a culture that respects and values staff.

Stakeholder engagement: as the figurehead for Private Care, work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives. Lead strategic relationships with payors and referrers, develop communication, engagement and marketing strategies including a consultant engagement approach.

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge. We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979.
