Full Job Description

Applications are invited for the role of Head of Profession for the Department of Radiology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust [LTHT]. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and highly motivated diagnostic Radiographer with excellent communication, management & leadership skills to provide the professional leadership for the over 350 radiographers, sonographers and clinical support staff within the CSU.

They will be a compassionate leader responsible for delivering an efficient, safe, effective and high-quality radiographic imaging service.

The HoP will line manage the modality lead radiographers, quality lead radiographer and radiation safety protection team and is responsible for delivering the quality and safety agenda for the CSU in collaboration with the Lead Clinician for Quality and Patient Experience. They will be line managed by the Clinical Director.

As a member of the triumvirate leadership team the HoP will be involved with strategic decisions about the CSU with delegated responsibility from the Clinical Director for some of these decisions and their operationalisation.

This is an exciting role and applications from within and outside the organisation are encouraged., The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional leadership and management of the radiographers, sonographers, clinical technologists, assistant radiographic practitioners and radiographic assistants across the Radiology and Medical Illustration clinical support unit (CSU) .

The post holder is the named and identified lead and point of contact for advice and expertise. Responsible for the care and professional practice delivered with a radiographic workforce of over 370 whole time equivalent registered and 70 un-registered staff working across 6 hospital sites.

LTHT is one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe and is a regional and national centre for specialist treatment, a renowned bio-medical research facility and the local hospital for the Leeds community.

LTHT treats 1.5 million patients each year including more than 200,000 emergency patients.

The Radiology Clinical Service Unit (CSU) delivers a diagnostic & treatment imaging service for over 600,000 patients a year within a budget of just over £71m. With an established national reputation for clinical innovation & expertise along with a significant teaching & research profile the CSU contains one of three national radiology training academies with associated educational facilities & resources for the Leeds Bradford Radiology training scheme.

Radiology employs approximately 850 staff & provides a full range of imaging modalities across 6 sites in Leeds.
