Full Job Description

The Head of Research Degrees and Quality Review will lead a small team in managing the development, delivery and review of the University's policies and procedures for the regulation of learning, training and assessment of research degrees. You will oversee the operation of key quality assurance and enhancement mechanisms for the institution. The role operates at a senior level working closely with the Head of Education Policy and the PVC Education. Collaborative working with other senior colleagues is also important, being able to work effectively across Oxford with colleagues in the four divisional offices and OUDCE, officers and academic staff working in departments and colleges, and colleagues within the University Administration and Services (UAS) as well as in the Proctors' Office, and Graduate Committee of Conference.

You will have a good first degree or equivalent, and experience of working at a senior level in higher education or similar environment, and ideally have specialist knowledge of research degree and / or quality assurance matters. You will have excellent analytical, strategic planning, communication and interpersonal skills, combined with excellent organisational and administrative abilities, including a capacity to manage complex exercises and work on a variety of projects simultaneously in a busy working environment whilst meeting strict deadlines.

The team also provides a secretariat service for major university committees and manages student casework. The EPS team provides a vital service to colleagues and students across Oxford by managing individual student cases and offering expert advice to staff. The role of Head of Research Degrees and Quality Review provides first-class strategic planning, policy development and operational management support to the Head of Education Policy Support. You will lead the effective regulation and systematic enhancement of the University's research degree and doctoral training provision, and the effective operation of the University's quality assurance and enhancement framework for all levels of study.
