Head of Science

As a Head of Department you will be responsible for leading a department/faculty in your subject early to ensure that a clear, effective and appropriate teaching and learning environment is being provided to students. Other responsibilities include giving a clear direction and purpose for your department through clear and cohesive leadership, supporting colleagues in the development of strategies and ensuring teacher trainees and ECTs are being provided with a supportive and developmental experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for any experienced subject teachers who have experience in supporting their Head of Department, or current Department Heads who are looking to join an organisation that can offer further progression into school leadership.

About the Department: The Science Department has a wide range of teaching experiences from which we all benefit. It is housed in six specialist laboratories and three hybrid teaching laboratories. All three sciences are strong and popular at Outwood Academy Acklam, with pupils regularly achieving the highest grades from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
